This extra part of the course was created by Robert Poole (@RobertEPoole), Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Part 10 explores corpus-assisted discourse study (CADS) and its application to ecological discourse analysis and ecolinguistics. In the materials below, you will find a brief introduction to corpus linguistics and CADS as well as links to useful tools for building and analyzing your own corpora. Additionally, the exercises will lead you through a series of corpus searches using several popular corpora available online to complete investigations of relevance to ecolinguistics. These searches will teach you fundamental corpus techniques and prepare you to perform your own eco-informed searches.
The video introduces general corpus linguistics. With thanks to Nicholas Groom for permission to re-use it here.
